  In continuation of our programmes to create a knowledge sharing platform amongst fellow professionals, the Institute of Indian Interior Designers – Delhi Regional Chapter in association with HNG Float Glass is organizing a seminar from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on 24^th of July, 2010, Saturday, at the India Habitat Center, New Delhi.
 
The event will feature presentations of Young Turks who have been featured in the first anniversary issue of the Architects and Interiors India Magazine as the cutting edge architects of the future. The title of the conference is DESIGN & PRACTICE FOR THE FUTURE.
 
The Programme will also include a Panel Discussion The Practice of Design And The Design of Practice For The Future

School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Bhopal invites Expression of Interest (EOI) from leading Architectural firms for participating in a two stage competition for design of buildings for the proposed academic campus of the ‘Institute of National importance’ at Bhauri village, Bhopal as per the already finalized Master plan on a plot of 30.21 Ha.

This will be a Two Stage Competition, in which any eligible registered architect, architectural firms or consortia meeting our eligibility criteria may participate. The first stage has been aimed at soliciting ideas and concepts. Designs submitted in the first stage shall be assessed by a Board of Assessors and up to 05 (five) best conceptual designs will be shortlisted. The author of these selected designs will be invited to take part in the second stage of the competition, and each architect so invited would be paid an honorarium of Rs.Two Lacs after completion of the final assessment.

Registration: The Architectural firms interested in this project will require to register their firm for the competition. Registration/ application details can be downloaded from our website www.spabhopal.ac.in . Correctly filled application letter including all required information along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 5000/- (Rs. Five thousand only as non-refundable fees) in favor of ‘Director, SPA Bhopal’ payable at Bhopal should be received at the institute latest by the 1700 hours IST on 26^th July 2010;

NATIONAL BUILDING CODE OF INDIA 2005

[Organized jointly by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), New Delhi

As you are aware, the National Building Code of India (NBC) is a prestigious publication of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and a national instrument providing guidelines for regulating the building construction activities across the country.  It serves as a Model Code for adoption by local bodies, Public Works Departments, other government construction departments and private construction agencies.
In order to disseminate information about NBC 2005 and help in the implementation of the same, BIS jointly with The Institution of Engineers (India), Ghaziabad Local State Centre is organizing a `Workshop on National Building Code of India 2005’. The Workshop will be held on Saturday, 15 May 2010 in Ghaziabad.

As we all know Climate change is inevitable. Mitigation & Adaption utilizing optimum resources is the only way out to get prepared and face all future consequences.

Surat – a coastal city in Gujarat have major threats from climate change impact in terms of flooding, coastal storms and cyclone, sea level rise and inundation. The city has experienced major flooding every few years in the last two decades, with some events (2006 flood) covering as much as 75% of the city. It is  low lying  settlements and settlements  close to the River and the Creek, often homes of the  poorest and vulnerable population, that have been  worst  affected  by floods.

Surat Initiative:
Under ACCCRN Program, GSDMA (Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority) and SMC (Surat Municipal Corporation) along with other organisations like Rockefeller Foundation, SGCCI (Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry), SVNIT (Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat) TARU and CREDAI SURAT propose national level planning and design competition ‘SURAT – SAFE HABITAT’ for professionals and students category with two different themes as described below:

Subtheme I: Planning and Design of low income group cluster housing prone to frequent flood.

Subtheme II: Spatial area planning of low laying area with high flood risk.

Each Award session recognises, successively, recently built and/or unbuilt projects in the following sectors: healthcare; civic buildings; urban design; commercial buildings; residential buildings.

The UIA is associated with this initiative devoted to “Excellence in Design” and designed to highlight the dynamism of the profession around the world. The next session focuses on healthcare facilities. Buildings completed after 1st January 2007 can be presented, as well as un-built projects.

All entries will be published on the world architecture news site. The winning entry will be awarded a 12 month subscription to the worldwide tender announcement service – WAN Tender alerts, worth 1 250 £.

The deadline for submissions for this session is 30 April 2010. The participation fee is 350 £. Early registrations made before the 31 March will enjoy a preferential rate of 296 £.
